How much does Cvent cost? A plain-English guide to Cvent pricing
Cvent doesn't publish list prices. Here's how Cvent pricing actually works — the modules, the factors that move the number, and how to budget for it realistically.
Read moreA practical comparison of Cvent Flex and Classic registration — the real differences, when each makes sense, and what to watch for when you migrate to Flex.

If you’ve built events in Cvent for a while, you’ve lived through both registration engines: Classic (the original) and Flex (the modern, responsive builder). Newer teams often only know Flex. If you’re deciding which to use — or staring down a migration — here’s a straight comparison and the practical guidance to make the call.
Flex is the present and future of Cvent registration. It’s the responsive, drag-and-drop builder Cvent actively develops, and it’s where new capabilities land. Classic still exists and still runs events, but it’s legacy. For any new event program, the default answer is Flex.
The nuance is in the details — and in migration, which is rarely as simple as “click convert.”
Design & responsiveness. Flex is mobile-first and genuinely responsive — one build adapts across devices. Classic pages were designed in a more rigid, desktop-era model and often need separate handling to look right on phones, where most of your registrants actually are.
Building experience. Flex uses a modern visual, section-based builder that non-developers can work in confidently. Classic’s editing model is older and more fiddly. For teams building frequently, Flex is simply faster to work in day to day.
Conditional logic & personalization. Both support conditional logic, but Flex’s implementation is cleaner and more flexible — showing/hiding sections, questions and paths based on registrant type, answers, or admission items without the workarounds Classic sometimes required.
Look and brand control. Flex gives you more direct control over styling and layout, which matters when the registration page is an extension of your brand and a conversion surface, not just a form.
Feature roadmap. This is the deciding factor: new Cvent registration features are built for Flex. Staying on Classic means slowly falling behind the platform you’re paying for.
Realistically, one reason: you have a complex existing Classic event that works and can’t be disrupted right now. A high-stakes annual conference mid-cycle, with intricate logic and integrations already validated, isn’t something you rebuild the week before launch just to be modern. In that case, finish the cycle on Classic and plan the Flex migration for the off-season. Outside of that, new builds should be Flex.
Migration isn’t a one-click convert, and treating it like one is how teams get burned. The things that need real attention:
The pattern in all of these: Flex is better, but a migration is a full rebuild-and-test, not a conversion. Budget time for testing, and never migrate a live event under deadline pressure.
Registration is where you either capture or lose your audience, so a botched Flex migration is expensive in a way that’s hard to see — it shows up as drop-off, not an error message. If your team is weighing a migration or wants Flex builds done properly, that’s core to what we do: conversion-focused Cvent registration and Flex builds, tested end to end before they go live.
